Today marks the official launch of Data.Gov, a website designed to share government information (economics, healthcare, environment, etc.) with citizens.

Obama just appointed Vivek Kundra to the new position of CIO of the United States. Mr. Kundra supports opening government records and has proposed the creation of data.gov to become the repository for all government collected information. Check out the NY Times article.
According to a recent report from the National Research Council, data mining is not a viable method of automatically identifying terrorist suspects.
